New Beginnings Youth Development Center

Design-Build construction of a state-of-the-art youth rehabilitative center featuring a campus of five (5) new, one (1) story masonry buildings with a total of 93,000 gross square feet of floor area. Situated on an existing 15-acre site after razing abandoned buildings, the new main campus administration building contains the admissions, medical, Superintendent's offices, a full service commercial kitchen, laundry, dining, a 123-seat theater, student commons, academic education and vocational training departments. It also includes the administrative offices for DYRS. A separate, free standing gymnasium/warehouse is included in the campus. The gym features a high-school sized wood floor basketball court to seat 200 visitors plus an exercise area, while the warehouse has maintenance and transportation facilities. Three (3), 20-bed secure housing units are also freestanding, grouped around a basketball court. The campus includes 150 parking spaces, a vehicle service court, and an interior pedestrian landscaped secure courtyard with basketball courts and an agricultural area. The fenced recreation yards complete the campus environment with a baseball diamond, football field, and running track.
